Frankfurt — working across Europe and the US
One of my deepest joys is sitting with ambitious builders — sparring, listening, asking the questions they’ve been avoiding — as they earn the trust of the institutional world.
I work as a co-entrepreneur: advice with initiative, skin in the game.
I grew up in the age of the first moonshots. I spent my career learning what makes institutions trust the new — starting at the Deutsche Bundesbank, then as a corporate and investment banker, and through 23 years at Moody’s, where I served as Group Managing Director and Global Head of Relationship Management, leading a global team of 200 across 33 countries, with board mandates at Moody’s subsidiaries.
I have also sat on the other side of the table: as co-owner and advisory board chairman of our family’s machinery business. My equivalent of the American garage was our kitchen table — a place of debate, excitement, and sometimes worry.
Now I work with the next generation of moonshots.
Advise. Sparring partner to founders, executives, and boards — asking the questions teams avoid, then working the answers alongside them: strategy, funding, governance, and the doors to institutional markets. In boardrooms and founder circles alike.
Serve on boards. Board experience at Moody’s subsidiaries and as chairman of a family business advisory board; now building a focused portfolio of Beirat, advisory, and supervisory mandates — with particular value where a company at a frontier needs governance credibility, or a US company needs an independent director resident in Europe.
Invest. Where stage and conviction allow, I invest in companies I advise. I don’t give advice I wouldn’t fund.
Engagements begin by referral or direct conversation. For work requiring specialist depth, I draw on a small circle of trusted senior partners.
If you’re building at a frontier and the institutional world is your next market — I’m findable.
